BOE Board Members

Board of Equalization Board Members / Application Process

The DeKalb County Board of Equalization (BOE) is comprised of county citizens appointed by the Grand Jury for the purpose of participating in independent and unbiased hearings of appeals regarding property taxes disputes.

The Board Members Role

Serving as a member of the Board of Equalization is a vital act of civic leadership that ensures the local property tax system remains fair, transparent and accurate. In your role as a Board Member, you'll serve as an impartial arbiter between the government's assessments and the taxpayer. You'll serve as a necessary check and balance that protects citizens from over assessment while ensuring the county receives the proper tax revenue. By carefully weighing evidence and applying state law to complex valuation disputes, board members uphold the integrity of public funding for essential services like schools and infrastructure.
